SING, YE FORESTS, AND SING, YE SEAS (1992)
When the bright angels from regions impearled
streaming to earth descend,
Heaven’s own melody rings o’er the world,
with news of a Gift without end,
with news of a Gift without end.
O sing, ye forests, and sing, ye seas,
and sing, ye skies above!
For Christmas comes again to tell
of God’s redeeming love.
Furry and feathered, afoot and a-wing,
the creatures draw near at His birth.
So donkey and nightingale worship their King,
who comes bringing life to the earth,
who comes bringing life to the earth.
O sing, ye forests, and sing, ye seas...
There by the manger in tender embrace,
Virgin and infant repose,
Blessed and perfumed by the fullness of Grace,
our dear Father’s heart they disclose,
our dear Father’s heart they disclose.
O sing, ye forests, and sing, ye seas...
Now come with the shepherds, run quickly and see
the wonder which lies near at hand,
a Treasure unending for you and for me,
a Springtime of Light for the land,
a Springtime of Light for the land!
O sing, ye forests, and sing, ye seas...
